US Election Night Special

Tuesaday, 8 November, 10.00pm, Main Hall, International Politics Building.

This event is open to the entire university and it will be a late one!

Provisional programme:

10pm: Presentation explaining the Electoral College and US Election Practice. This will be followed by Q&A.

11pm: Perusing news coverage and analysis one hour before state polls begin to close and results start coming in.

Midnight onwards: Showing of live electoral votes as further results come in (Key states: FL, PA, OH, NC, VA)

1am: Discussion on votes cast and analysis of how election is likely to fall.

From there, as the votes come in, the return will determine how long the event goes on into the small hours.

As is clear from above, we do wish to schedule the nighter, but it remains obviously informal with 'a party atmosphere’. The 'International Politics Society' will also be present both animating discussion and fund-raising.
