International Legitimacy

DDMI Associate and E H Carr Professor Ian Clark is on the forefront of research concerning the way in which legitimacy functions in international society. He is focusing on the way in which legitimacy functions in international society, its relationship with hegemony, and how to solve crises of legitimacy in international society.

Professor Clark has been successful in securing significant research body funding for his research into the issue of legitimacy in international relations. Between 2002-4, he was the recipient of a Leverhulme Major Research Fellowship. He held a three-year ESRC Professorial Fellowship for his latest project, 'Legitimacy and Hegemony,' which ran until 2010.
