New AU staff

All current AU staff are entitled to have access to library, email and computing facilities at AU, subject to Information Services Regulations and Guidelines.

Make sure you have signed your contract and relevant documentation and sent it back to Human Resources (HR).

Fully processed records in the HR system are transferred to IS every night. Therefore, it should be possible to register to use IS facilities one day after your record has been processed by HR/Payroll.

Access to library facilities

For production of an Aber Card, giving access to library facilities as well as other services, an IS Registration Card must be completed in the Hugh Owen Library and a passport size photo must be provided.

An Aber Card will be produced provided the details are on the system, and will normally be available for collection 24 hours after the registration card and photo are handed in at the desk.

Email and computing access

An email account is created for every registered IS user. This account must be activated by visiting the Customer Service Desks on Level D of the Hugh Owen Library .
See How does a new member of staff activate their computing account? for further details.

Access before date of contract

New staff requiring access to IS facilities before their contract starts must have authorisation from their Head of Department and must complete an IS Access Request Form

The completed form MUST include the National Insurance number so that the temporary account can be linked automatically to the permanent account without loss of IS access, and must be signed by the Head of Department (or designated nominee).

Completed forms should be sent to Lending Services in the Hugh Owen Library.

IS user accounts normally remain active until the Staff Contract is terminated
