Acquiring library resources
- Taught postgraduates can borrow 25 items at a time; research postgraduates can borrow 40 items. Find out more about loan periods and reciprocal borrowing schemes
- Use the Document Supply forms in Primo to request books, articles or dissertations from other libraries. Find out more about Document Supply
- Contact your subject librarian to arrange a site trial for an electronic resource

Primo: search the library catalogue
- Search Primo to find books, journals, DVDs, newspapers, dissertations and rare books in all Aberystwyth University locations. Find e-books and e-journals too.

- use My Account to manage your loans, requests and renewals

Primo Central: articles, full-text online and recommendations
- Search Primo Central to find full-text journal articles from thousands of journal titles. Find Primo Central in the Search menu in Primo
- The BX Recommender service will add the Recommendations tab to your search results if recommendations are available for your results
Primo: find electronic resources
- Click Databases A-Z in Primo to browse all our subscribed databases and some high-quality free online resources
Find full-text online on and off-campus
- Follow the advice here to view full-text from Primo search results
- Look out for the @aber buttons in search results in subscribed databases; clicking on the button will check our e-journal holdings for full-text
- Follow the advice here when working off-campus to ensure you can access e-books, e-journals and online databases subscribed to by Aberystwyth University
Open Access
The University supports the open access provision of all staff research outputs and successful PhD theses through the CADAIR repository. CADAIR also includes Masters dissertations gaining distinctions or relating to Wales/Welsh
You can register online for submitting your PhD thesis to CADAIR.

Alert services
- Set up Primo alerts to receive messages about incoming library stock that matches your regular searches
- Many databases and online journal collections offer alert services. In particular, ZETOC allows you to supply a free text search for table of contents alerts from the journals subscribed to by the British Library
Reference management software
Local training and support is available for EndNote and EndNote Web (Windows and Macs), also Citations & Bibliography (MS Word 2007/2010). Contact: endnote@aber.ac.uk
Skills training
In addition to the Research Training & Development Programme co-ordinated by the Graduate School, there are optional classes available via the Postgraduate Study Practices Programme delivered on Wednesday afternoons by Student Support and Information Services.
