Finding high quality information in your subject of study

Reading lists

Your department may provide module reading lists comprising books, journal articles and other items. You may find these in module handbooks, in the modules information and/or in the online reading lists.

Browse the shelves

You can browse the shelves in your subject area to become familiar with the collection. There are floor plans available in each library displaying the location of each subject and they are also available online. If you find a book in Primo and click on the classmark in the book record you can find book titles located near that book, whether or not they are on loan.

Search Primo

Searching Primo using keywords in your subject will find books, journals and other items in the University libraries. You can also try the subject search; click on the Subject tab and check the search tips. Links to online full-text are provided where available e.g. to ebooks and ejournals.

Subject Information

Visit the Subject Information pages for a summary of key information, resources and support available from Information Services.

Visit E-journals @ Aber

E-journals @ Aber is the University electronic journals service. You can search and browse thousands of journal titles and click through to the full text. Click on Categories to see journal titles gathered by subject.

Visit eLibrary

A wide range of high quality information resources are available in online eLibrary, some of which are are available to staff and students only (via library subscription) and some which are freely available. These include journal article indexes, digitised collections of old and/or rare books, journals and newspapers, other library catalogues e.g. the National Library of Wales, subject gateways and much more. Log in as an AU user, click on News and Reference and click on your subject.

Discover the online resources

You can click on a resource to explore it. There is a list of sub-categories on the left of each subject area; check each of them to find subject-specific and general reference resources.

Cross-search at article level and find full-text

You can enter a word into the eLibrary search box and it will search all the resources with a tick next to them (you can tick and untick resources to select the ones you want). If you select a journal article index e.g. Web of Science, OCLC Articlefirst, it will return results where the search term is found in the journal article title. You can check if we have one of the articles electronically by clicking on the @Aber button next to it.
