Large format printing (Posters)

Media and Sales have a Canon iPF8100, 12 colour pigment 44” wide large format printer.
We can print up to A0, ideal for banners and posters.

Please allow up to 3 working days for your work to be done. 

We carry 3 different types of media:

  • Matt coated paper

Please note there is a minimum order of 2 prints if A2 is required on any media and a minimum of 2 or 3 prints for A3 on canvas.

Specifications for Large Format Printing

PDF
  • Images to be 300 dpi for best quality
  • All images must embedded
  • Fonts must be embedded
  • File must have trim marks and bleed included where necessary
Adobe Photoshop
  • Images to be 300 dpi for best quality
  • CMYK or RGB
  • Layers to be flattened
  • Save as .TIF or .JPEG
  • File must have trim marks and bleed included where necessary
Adobe Illustrator
  • Ensure imported images are 300 dpi for best quality
  • Images must be embedded
  • All fonts used are to be turned into outlines or supplied
  • File must have trim marks and bleed included where necessary
Adobe InDesign
  • Ensure imported images are 300 dpi for best quality
  • Images must be embedded
  • Fonts used must be supplied
  • File must have trim marks and bleed included where necessary
Microsoft Office & Microsoft Publisher

Microsoft Word, PowerPoint & Publisher are NOT designed for large format printing and should be avoided. However,it is acknowledged that many people only have access to these applications. If you are creating something for large format printing in a Microsoft application, below are some notes to try and achieve the best results.

Saving A1 posters in PowerPoint

Create correct page size A1

  • Go to Design and Page setup and Custom – (59.4cm x 84.1cm)
  • Design the poster

To save the document at a resolution suitable for large format printing:

  • Go to File
  • Save As
  • Other formats (select JPEG)
  • On other formats dialogue box click on Tools
  • Compress picture
  • Options
  • Deselect the radio button which says:
  • Automatically perform basic compression on save
  • Select the radio button which says:
  • Target output 220ppi
  • Ok
  • Ok
  • Save

Saving A1 posters in Publisher

  • Create correct page size 59.4cm x 84.1cm for A1
  • Design the poster

To save the document at a resolution suitable for large format printing:

  • File save as
  • Save as type
  • Select JPEG
  • In the ‘Save As’ dialogue box click on ‘Change’
  • Select the radio button which says:
  • High quality printing on commercial press (300dpi)
  • Ok
  • Save
