Self-service printing and copying

Aberystwyth University operates a 'follow-me' print service which means:

  • when you send your job to print it goes onto a central queue
  • you can then go to any printer-copier (locations available here)
  • show your Aber card to the card reader OR type in your AU username and password and release your document

This means that if the nearest printer-copier is in use you can easily go and use another.

On 18 December 2012 Information Services replaced the existing self-service Printer/Copiers with new ones. The new devices are all Konica Minolta C364 and are identical in functionality.

Printing:

  • Mono and Colour
  • A4 and A3
  • direct from your own computer (see here)
  • via the web from wherever you are
  • Quick Print  - releasing all your print jobs by clicking one button

Copying:

  • Mono and Colour
  • A4 and A3
  • document feeders so you can copy multiple pages easily

Scanning:

  • to USB
  • to networked filestore
  • as JPEG, TIFF, PDF Compact, PDF, PPTX, XPS, Compact XPS
  • preview your scans

They're cheaper

  • A4 mono reduced from 5p to 3p
  • A4 colour reduced from 30p to 6p
  • A3 mono reduced from 10p to 4p
  • A3 colour reduced from 60p to 7p

They're greener

  • use recycled paper
  • reduce energy consumption
  • the consumables and end of life equipment are all recyclable (More details)

They're faster

  • 20 second warm up times
  • 5.3-6.9 seconds for the first page to print/copy
  • up to 36 pages per minute print/copy times
