Applying for the LPC at Aberystwyth

Who can apply?

You must have successfully completed (or are about to complete) one of the following:

  • A qualifying law degree 
  • Graduate Diploma in Law/ CPE coupled with a non law degree (minimum lower second class honours)
  • Similar qualification such as ILEX

In addition, we may also consider:

  • Work experience or other evidence of commitment to the profession
  • Assessments by referees, educational psychologists or medical practitioners
  • Performance at an interview (if applicable)

Aberystwyth University Legal Practice Course welcomes late applications from suitably qualified individuals. The process for late applicants is noted below.

3. Meet the conditions of your offer 
When you are offered a place it will be conditional.
Please read the conditions of your offer carefully.

All applicants must provide their Certificate of Completion of the Academic Stage and Certificate of Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) Student Enrolment.

You may also have to provide evidence of your academic qualification, further references and or documentation from your financial sponsor.

Documentation provided must be original or a certified copy of an original.

You will have completed the application process when you have met the conditions on your offer and received a letter confirming this.

A note about Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) Certificates:
The SRA prepares and sends letters of Completion of Academic Stage to all students graduating in the current year who are registered as student members of the SRA. If you have not received your letter within 3 weeks of graduating and HAD joined as a Student Member of the SRA prior to this, please contact the SRA to enquire about the delay.

If you have not yet joined the SRA as a student member please do so immediately and request your letter of Completion at the same time.

WARNING! The SRA will not allow you to undertake the LPC without this documentation. It is up to you to apply within the appropriate time frame. The cut off date is normally the 1st August. The SRA will not process new applications after this date. 

4. Arrange accommodation 
Accommodation information will be sent out with your pre-registration pack when your application is fully complete.

Only when your application is fully complete and all the conditions met, may you contact the Accommodation Office and make arrangements for your arrival.

University accommodation has been set aside for LPC students. However, we are unable to guarantee availability to late applicants.

5. Pre-Register 
Complete your pre-registration documentation and return to the University.
6. Enrol 
The start of term for the LPC at Aberystwyth in 2011 is

Monday 5th September.

All students are expected to be fully attending from the first day of the course. As required by the SRA attendance on all parts of the LPC is compulsory.
