Exceptional Resources and Support

The LPC at Aberystwyth is a close knit community with the LPC Resource Centre as its focal point This excellent campus based facility has all the office services and facilities which you would have access to in a solicitor's practice. An extensive collection of current practitioner manuals, texts, periodicals and other resources is housed in the Centre and is for use by LPC students only. In addition, you will receive a generous allocation of free printing and photocopying. The Centre also incorporates a space for students to relax and tea and coffee are available. The LPC Administrator is located in an office next to the Resource Centre and is always willing to provide advice and assistance.

Our extensive IT facilities provide you with access to online resources 24 hours a day. During office hours LPC students have access, in the Resource Centre, to 20 dedicated high specification workstations with printing and photocopying facilities. In addition, students have admittance to the Departmental Postgraduate Room. The University provides high specification workstations at many different locations across campus including 24 hour access rooms. All bedrooms in university student accommodation have a network connection offering free high-speed access to the Internet for 24 hour access to online learning resources and materials.

The LPC is an intensive and challenging course and extensive resources are available for your academic and personal support. The University has comprehensive suite of welfare and support services that you will have access to, should you ever need them.

Personal tutors

Your personal tutor will not only monitor your performance and welfare but will also provide guidance for your personal development planning, careers advice and cv preparation. Personal tutors can also act as a referral point to the University's professional support services. Our open door policy gives you the freedom to approach you personal tutor whenever he/she is available.

Leadership opportunities

As a student on the LPC at Aberystwyth you have the opportunity to actively participate in the development of the course. You may nominate yourself to act as student representative for your class. Each small group will have an elected representative who will meet with staff on a regular basis to discuss any matter of concern to students or staff. One of the LPC student representatives will also represent their classmates at Departmental level.

Guaranteed student accommodation

LPC students are guaranteed* accommodation in one of the university residences. These provide good quality accommodation, excellent facilities and are all linked to the University IT system. The rent is very competitive and you will have access to all University and Student Union facilities. The residence recommended for LPC students is the Pentre Jane Morgan estate which is adjacent to the campus.

Special needs

Our specialised Welfare Services staff are available to support all students with disabilities. Our focus is on recognising and responding to individual needs and prospective students are encouraged to contact our Disability Officer in confidence to discuss their requirements.
