The E-Cambrian - A Journal of Socio-Legal Studies
Call for Papers
The E-Cambrian - A Journal of Socio-Legal Studies is an online law journal, an offshoot of the long established Cambrian Law Review, based in the Department of Law and Criminology at Aberystwyth. The E-Cambrian invites submissions for peer-reviewed articles for online publication on this open-access site which is designed to encourage participation, currency and involvement. The General Editor welcomes any contributions of a high scholarly standard on all law and law-related areas of historic and contemporary as well as regional, national and international interest. Each paper will be reviewed by at least two anonymous referees and papers will be published on this site as and when they have been accepted for publication. We will accept manuscripts submitted in English or Welsh. Articles should be submitted to our editor Dr Marco Odello, mmo@aber.ac.uk.

Adrian Lyon, The Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act 2004 – the Promised Land for Compulsory Purchase or a Wasted Opportunity? (2008)
E-Cambrian
The 2012 Olympic Games in London, combined with major urban regeneration projects in cities across the United Kingdom, has seen the number of compulsory purchase orders soar. So it is more important than ever that compulsory purchase laws are fair to both the landowner and the general public. The Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act 2004 promised to improve the fairness of the system, but it is argued in this article that it has only had limited success in doing so.
Adrian Lyon won a Dissertation Prize for this dissertation at Aberystwyth University in 2008.
