Adrian Lyon, The Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act 2004 – the Promised Land for Compulsory Purchase or a Wasted Opportunity? (2008)

E-Cambrian

The 2012 Olympic Games in London, combined with major urban regeneration projects in cities across the United Kingdom, has seen the number of compulsory purchase orders soar. So it is more important than ever that compulsory purchase laws are fair to both the landowner and the general public. The Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act 2004 promised to improve the fairness of the system, but it is argued in this article that it has only had limited success in doing so.

Adrian Lyon won a Dissertation Prize for this dissertation at Aberystwyth University in 2008.
