Centre for Welsh Legal Affairs
Teaching
The Centre for Welsh Legal Affairs is currently working on developing the range of law modules available through the medium of Welsh. Currently, we are able to offer:
- Welsh-medium seminars in seven core subjects
- Constitutional law
- Criminal law
- Equity and the law of trusts
- Land law
- Legal process
- Legal system
- Law of torts
- The seminars are supported by the availability of bilingual lecture handouts.
- A more recent development is the introduction of an entirely Welsh-medium optional module in Healthcare law. All aspects of this course are taught through the medium of Welsh, and assessments and course work will also be presented through the medium of Welsh.
- It is also possible for undergraduate students to complete dissertations in Welsh, and an annual prize is offered for the best extended piece of work presented in the Welsh Language.
- As part of HEFCW’s ongoing strategy to encourage collaboration between Wales’s universities in relation to Welsh-medium teaching, two modules (Y Gyfraith yn Gymraeg and Cymru’r Gyfraith) are being offered from 2009-2010.
