Learning Outcomes

This a third-year lecture-based core module, the aim of which is to provide third year students with an opportunity to reflect more generally on their historical knowledge. On completion, students will:
a) have developed a comparative perspective on their own historical studies over the three years of their degree
b) have enhanced their awareness of the range of possible historical interpretations of events and processes
c) reflect critically on the use of primary sources in a range of different intellectual traditions
d) be able to employ their critical reflections in written work under take-away examination conditions.

Brief description

This module is designed as a valuable opportunity for Single Honours History students to consolidate their accumulated learning at the end of the final year. In it, students will explore the nature of historical development and change by drawing on the historical knowledge and understanding gained through their three years of graduate study.
