Aberystwyth University has appointed Rachel Tod as the new Director of the International Office.

Rachel, originally from New Zealand, moved to Aberystwyth in 2005 and holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree with a major in Marketing from the University of Otago.

She has worked for Aberystwyth University in a variety of roles.  Whilst working for the Department of Law and Criminology she set up the legal practice course and since 2009 she has been the Postgraduate Marketing and Recruitment Officer with responsibility for recruiting from the European Union.

Speaking of her appointment, Rachel commented: “I’m delighted to be appointed to this exciting role and look forward to working with the team to promote our University to our prospective students, support the recruitment of international staff and work with our alumni and partner institutions to strengthen relationships and develop meaningful collaboration opportunities.  Aberystwyth is well regarded amongst the international community, recently voted one of the best places in the world to be a student, and I look forward to building on our reputation as a global University.”

Senior Pro-Vice Chancellor, Professor Aled Jones said: “I’m very pleased that we have been able to appoint Rachel to this important role within the University. Our international relations are crucial to the future development of our University and I’m sure that Rachel will be able to draw on her experiences gained whilst working for the Marketing and Recruitment Office in addition to her personal experiences as an international staff member.”

Rachel started her new role earlier this week.  The International Office at Aberystwyth University is a full service unit which provides support and expertise on international matters in addition to leading the international recruitment and collaboration agenda.
