Six one year Master's Studentships for the Creative Media Practice MA program in the Department of Theatre, Film and Television, are being offered at Aberystwyth University.

During the year the successful students will follow an MA course at the University in Aberystwyth and spend a period working with one of six creative companies which are part of the scheme.

As part of the course, they will be expected to complete a project that will contribute to the future of the company, and in turn add economic value to the region in which the company is based.

The companies and the respective projects that for part of the scheme are:
• Theatr Arad Goch (Aberystwyth): appealing to and working with young theatre audiences
• Boomerang (Aberystwyth): developing a TV/multi-platform presence for Welsh language learners
• Cwmni Theatr y Frân Wen (Porthaethwy): strategies for professional site specific performance
• Galeri Caernarfon: developing engagement between communities, audiences and cinemas
• Palas Print (Caernarfon): developing strategies for micro-events in book retail
• Telesgôp (Swansea): developing a TV/multi-platform presence for folk music

Dafydd Sills-Jones, lecturer in the Department of Theatre, Film and Television said: "I am pleased that our new course has attracted so many scholarships for the first year. It promises to be an exciting and dynamic course, which will place the students at the heart of the Welsh creative industry.”

The scholarships will cover tuition fees home / EU, £ 5,529 for living costs and a contribution towards expenses.
The Access to Masters programme is part-funded by the European Social fund through the European Union’s Convergence Programme (West Wales and the Valleys) administered by the Welsh Government.

The area includes 15 Local Authorities which are Anglesey, Conwy, Denbighshire, Gwynedd, Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire, Carmarthenshire, Swansea, Neath Port Talbot, Bridgend, Rhondda Cynon Taff, Merthyr Tudful, Blaenau Gwent, Caerphilly and Torfaen.

Qualifications: Welsh is essential for each of the scholarships. Applicants must be eligible for the fees UK / EU, with a 2:1 honours degree (or equivalent), and have an address in the Convergence Region of Wales.

Application Process: All applicants are required to have a place on the MA Creative Media Practice before applying for a Access to Masters Studentship, however both can be applied for at the same time.

The deadline for applications is Wednesday, 5th of September. Interviews will be held on Thursday, September 13th.
