Aberystwyth University students who were relocated from sea front halls of residence because of the poor weather conditions can now return to their halls.

Around 350 students were relocated to Penglais campus on Monday 8 February where hot food and drinks were provided free of charge by the University.

The students are able to return this evening following the necessary safety checks.

Rebecca Davies Pro Vice-Chancellor and Chief Operating Officer said: “We invited our students living in seafront accommodation up to the Penglais campus for dinner and are very pleased to announce that they can return to their accommodation. We’d like to thank our students who have been very understanding.

“We are also very grateful to members of staff, the emergency services, Ceredigion County Council and Natural Resources Wales, the local community and bus operator, who have worked hard to ensure that all our students were safe, dry and out of harm’s way."
