If you have ever dreamt of starting your own business, want to turn your good idea into a great business, or have an early stage venture which you would like to develop further, then Aberystwyth University’s annual Business Start-up Week will be ideal for you.

Taking place from Tuesday 31st May to Friday 3rd June, the event is one of the biggest annual Business Start-up ‘bootcamps’ in Wales.

The event includes a thought-provoking programme of free business skills workshops, designed around the key issues which face a start-up business.

Focusing on essential business skills training, the programme include sessions on market research, designing and planning a marketing strategy, the art and science of selling, digital marketing, and financial forecasting and planning.

The workshops provide hints, tips and practical guidance from local entrepreneurs, business advisors and enterprise staff from the University.

Open to all (including Aberystwyth University staff, students and graduates) and free of charge to participants, the workshops will be held on Aberystwyth University’s Penglais campus.

Tony Orme from the University’s Careers Service explains: “Business Start-up Week offers inspiration and first-hand experience from successful entrepreneurs, practical guidance, signposting and networking opportunities.

“The format of the event offers flexibility for participants to benefit from attend the full programme of sessions, or to identify topics which are of particular interest to them.

“An added benefit of attending this event is the opportunity to meet like-minded entrepreneurs and build a support network to draw on when taking your business idea forward.”

Business Start-Up Week is a partnership between Aberystwyth University’s Careers Service and the Welsh Government’s Big Ideas Wales.
