Footloose bursts onto stage

11 August 2016

The explosive Rock’n’Roll musical Footloose burst onto the stage at Aberystwyth Arts Centre last night (Wednesday 10th August), for the first of a run of performances lasting until Saturday 27 August.

Based on the 1980s riveting screen sensation, which took the world by storm with its youthful spirit, dazzling dance and electrifying music, Footloose tells the story of city boy Ren who has to move to a rural backwater in America where dancing is banned. All hell breaks out as Ren breaks loose and soon has the whole town up on its feet.

With a dynamic cast, including Lee Brennan (10-21 August) and Gareth Gates (23-27 August) as Willard and Maureen Nolan as Vi Moore, this fast-paced show is not only packed full of amazing dance but serves up some classic 80s hits, including Holding Out for a Hero, Almost Paradise, Let's Hear it for the Boy and of course the unforgettable title track Footloose

A four-time Tony Award nominee production, Footloose runs from 10th-27th August at Aberystwyth Arts Centre.  Evening performances will be held from Tuesdays to Saturdays at 7.30pm, with an extra Sunday performance at 6pm on Sunday 21st August.  Matinee performances take place on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays at 2.30pm.  The matinee on Saturday 13th August is a British Sign Language signed show.

Footloose is produced by Sell A Door Theatre Company, an award winning producer of mid and large-scale touring theatre.
