Clearing offers on social media

The University’s Clearing team will be on hand from 7.30am on A-level results day Thursday 17 August to deal with any queries.

Aberystwyth University is using social media for the first time to make offers to applicants during Clearing.

The University’s Clearing team will be on hand from 7.30am on A-level results day Thursday 17 August to deal with any queries.

As well as answering the main telephone hotline 0800 121 40 80 and dealing with emails, staff will be discussing options and making offers using live chat andFacebookmessenger.

In another new initiative, students will also be able to apply directly through the Aberystwyth University website www.aber.ac.uk/clearing on Thursday 17 and Friday 18 August 2017.

The Head of Undergraduate Admissions at Aberystwyth University, David Moyle, said: “We know that a lot of young people prefer to communicate online and we want to do everything we can to make the process as simple and as clear as possible for applicants.

“This is a time of year which can transform lives and unlock potential. It gives students who may not have achieved their grades at A level a chance to find an alternative university course which best suits them. It is also an opportunity for those who have decided at a later stage in the cycle that they want to do a degree to secure a university place.

“The Clearing process is useful too for those who want to reconsider options made at an early stage – either because they have achieved better grades than expected or have changed their minds about where they want to go. Whatever the reason, our team of Clearing staff at Aberystwyth will be on hand to make the process as easy possible and to make sure they find the right course for them.”
