New role for Aberystwyth Arts Centre Director

The Vice-Chancellor of Aberystwyth University, Professor Elizabeth Treasure has congratulated the Director of Aberystwyth Arts Centre after it was announced that he is to become the Chief Executive of the Arts Council of Wales.

Dafydd Rhys was appointed to his role at Aberystwyth Arts Centre in 2018 and will now go on to lead the body that funds and develops the arts throughout Wales in the autumn.

Professor Treasure said:  “My warmest congratulations to Dafydd on this very exciting and richly deserved appointment.  Given Dafydd’s excellent leadership of Aberystwyth Arts Centre over recent years it is no surprise that his skills, creativity and experience are in demand at a national level.  We have a really strong relationship with the Arts Council of Wales, and it is good news for us that the new Chief Executive will be someone with such a depth of understanding of the arts outside the larger cities.  We look forward to working with Dafydd in his new role and continuing to move Aberystwyth Arts Centre forward under new leadership in due course.”
