Welcome to the Communications and Public Affairs department
What we believe
Effective and timely communications are key for any modern organisation; and whilst developments in communications technology are ever more frequent and the ways in which we consume information changing radically, we believe in setting out three basic principles for the way we work.
- We will ensure that our community of staff and students is informed about the University’s key priorities
- We will provide a consistent flow of information about the University, its successes and the challenges it faces; and this to all its stakeholders, internally and externally, locally and further afield
- We will work with our media partners to present the University, its brand and reputation, in new and innovative ways. Reflecting strengths in research, teaching and student satisfaction whilst ensuring relevance to academia, industry and public life
What we do
Internal communications – working with departments to improve the flow of information around the University. This ranges from protocols and policies through to the weekly email of news and information for the Aberystwyth University community
Media liaison – linking up departments and relevant media, in the promotion of research and developments
Public and community relations – working with departments to co-ordinate external activities and events
Copywriting – ‘bite size’ training sessions to develop press releases and external communications materials
Communications awareness seminars – working with colleagues to develop awareness of the full potential for working with media partners
