Scholarship and Bursaries
Most Universities have only really got into scholarships and bursaries in the last few years, since the Government introduced top-up fees and gave Universities the responsibility of setting up schemes whereby students could offset some of the costs. But at Aberystwyth, we’ve been offering scholarships and bursaries for decades: that’s why, according to The Guardian, we offer the best range of scholarships and bursaries in the UK.
Our bursaries reflect the value we place on the balance and roundedness of the Aberystwyth experience. There are scholarships for academic achievement; excellence bursaries for sportsmen and women; and performance bursaries for musicians; but there are also supportive bursaries for poorer students; substantial bursaries for care-leavers; accommodation discounts for students who commit to Aberystwyth early.
Aberystwyth’s bursaries can and do make a real difference to many students and their parents.
Low cost of living
Aberystwyth is in the lowest 25% of cost of living in the UK:
- your son or daughter will have access to competitively priced student accommodation, both in the University and in the town;
- his or her commuting costs will be little or nothing, since everything is within walking distance – and safe walking distance, at that;
- the whole economy of Aberystwyth is geared to the student market, which means that there are always cheaper options available, both for necessities and for leisure spending.
