Biography

Ben graduated from Aberystwyth University in July 2014 with a 1st-class BSc (Hons) degree in Physics (F300). His final-year undergraduate project was entitled 'Directed deposition of photovoltaic inks using clay particles' and encompassed new research in the field of thin film photovoltaics.

After his BSc, Ben enrolled in the EPSRC-funded Centre of Doctoral Training in Diamond Science and Technology (DST) (https://warwick.ac.uk/fac/sci/dst/), a consortium that brings together leading academics from nine partner universities and industrialists from more than 30 companies. The course involved the completion of a 1-year postgraduate MSc degree in DST, as well as a fully-funded 3-year PhD project to undertaken at Aberystwyth University. Ben’s PhD project, entitled ‘Diamond-graphene interfaces’, involves studying the Iron-mediated catalytic growth of epitaxial graphene on the diamond (111) surface as well as the transfer and characterisation of catalytically-grown graphene on silicon/silicon oxide

Ben enjoys mountain walking, Dungeons & Dragons, and progressive rock music.
