Mair Waldo Scholarship
The Mair Waldo Scholarship Regulations
A scholarship fund was set up in memory of Mair Waldo-Thomas who was a lifelong supporter of Aberystwyth University and the Old Students’ Association. The fund was established by donations received from her family, friends and former students of Aberystwyth.
Regulations
1. The Mair Waldo Scholarship shall be a sum of £1500 awarded annually whilst funds are available.
2. The scholarship shall be open to any student (irrespective of country of origin) accepted to a full or part time MPhil or PhD, with a first degree equivalent to 2:i or above.
3. The recipient of the scholarship shall not be in receipt of a publicly funded award (with the exception of a University fees-only award) and will be responsible for meeting the costs of their research.
4. The scholarship award may not be divided.
5. The scholarship may not be held more than once and is tenable for one year only.
6. The scholarship holder will pursue research that increases the body of knowledge relating specifically to Wales. Applicants will provide a statement to explain how their research will fulfil this aim.
7. The final decision will rest with one of the Pro Vice-Chancellors and be based upon the proposal and other application material.
8. The deadline for applications is 31st May 2012.
9. The award holder will be expected to provide consent for information to feed back to supporters of the fund.
10. The regulations are subject to annual review and may be amended without notice. The value of the scholarship may also be revised from time to time.
11. The University reserves to itself the right of withholding the scholarship if there is no applicant of sufficient merit.
