Aberystwyth University’s Careers Advisory Service (CAS) provides you with the tools, techniques and support to ensure you achieve your goals, and develop personally with organised development opportunities. CAS works closely with all departments offering higher degrees at Aberystwyth University, providing specific career development sessions as well as contributing to the skills components of individual modules to help ensure they provide the key and transferable skills needed by employers.
We also recognise that you may not have a clear view of the career you want to develop and we will provide you with a careers advisor to ensure that your options are evaluated correctly. Reinforcing, this personal assistance with a strong programme of activities over the academic year is the use of aptitude (psychometric) tests that are used by many employers in their recruitment process.
You will be provided with access to an extensively stocked careers library, and will be able to discover computer based guidance with extensive information on over 400 graduate occupations. All this will allow you to understand your core skills and map them to the needs of the specific careers that interest you.
We can even assist you with finding part-time, and “work taster” sessions to ensure you can develop the practical skills to complement the degree specific skills. Utilising either our careers staff, or our online resources targeted opportunities can be found and emailed to you for consideration. Help is also available to find work placements and ‘tasters’ with Welsh SMEs advertised through Graduate Opportunities Wales.
