PhD in Computer Science
Members of staff are always happy to discuss possible PhD research programmes with suitably qualified graduates. Research should normally be related to one of the main areas of research of the department. There are about 20 students pursuing postgraduate research programmes in the Department at present, working alongside lecturers and research associates in a lively and well-integrated research community. Grants from Research Councils and other sources may be available through the Department.

We also have considerably and widely recognised expertise in Software Engineering and Network Technology, Industrial collaborators include Ford, Jaguar Cars, Unilever, Daimler Benz, Integral Solutions Ltd., and Glaxo.
Entry Requirements
A first or good 2(i) degree in an IT-related discipline.
Non-native English speakers are required to take a University recognised test of academic English language proficiency with required minimum proficiency levels equating to an IELTS score of 6.5 or a TOEFL score of 580 (paper based test) or 237 (computer based) with an essay rating of 5.0. Applicants who have successfully undertaken a Bachelors degree in a UK University are exempt from this requirement.
