MPhil / PhD
The Department is research active, and members of staff are involved in various projects including collaborative work with other universities and organisations. The Department has particular strengths in respiratory and endurance physiology, and the role of exercise in mental health and well-being and the psychology of sport. Members of academic staff have an established record of publications of high-quality peer reviewed scientific journals, as well as contributing to book chapters, popular magazine articles and television and radio broadcasts on issues related to their work.
Entry Requirements
Requirements are normally a PhD 2.1+ or (2.2 + Masters) in a relevant discipline. Additionally, work experience that is relevant to the chosen project may also be taken into account. Prospective students should ensure that they have arranged with referees for their references to be available as required.
Non-native English speakers are required to take a University recognised test of academic English language proficiency with required minimum proficiency levels equating to an IELTS score of 6.0 or a TOEFL score of 550 (paper based test) or 213 (computer based) with an essay rating of 4.0. Applicants who have successfully undertaken a Bachelors degree in a UK University are exempt from this requirement.
