MscEcon in International Relations
This intensive Master’s course is designed to be completed full-time within twelve months. It is divided into Part One (coursework and exams) and Part Two (dissertation); the dissertation is completed from June to September (following the completion of the taught component of the course). The method of teaching is by seminars led by specialist academic staff. This Master’s course is suitable for students who want to develop an advanced understanding of International Relations or who wish to convert from related disciplines.
The MScEcon in International Relations is available as a taught Masters programme through two pathways, specialist or research training. The specialist pathway is the traditional Master’s degree which offers the opportunity to specialise on a particular area of the discipline. The research training/preparation pathway is designed to emphasise social science or humanities research training as well as specialist provision, and is likely to be of most interest to students who have already studied extensively in that particular subject area and who are planning to undertake a PhD following the completion of their Master’s course.
Our admissions team can provide applicants with guidance on the relative merits of each pathway according to their specific needs.
Entrance Requirements
We generally require an Upper Second Class Honours degree from a British university (or equivalent from a non-UK university). We do, however, consider candidates who fall marginally below this requirement where there are extenuating circumstances.
