A good leader in any field will be open to new ideas, new people and new ways of doing things. In modules dealing specifically with International
Commerce and in sharing with student colleagues from all round the world, Aberystwyth SMB offers you great opportunities to learn from other business cultures.
We expect you to be a significant future leader in the field of International Business. It will also introduce you to different styles of Business leadership in different cultures, helping you to understand, and do business with, business leaders from many different parts of the world.
Managing the Organisation
In the first semester, the MBM offers a good range of modules which introduce the fundamentals of Business and Management, which will apply to any sphere of business activity – and, in many cases, to many kinds of non-business organisation. In the first semester, modules in Human Resource Management, Research Skills for Managers and Information Management Systems are designed to enable you to maximise the productivity and efficiency of an organisation, focusing on organisational leanness and health, without compromising the working and management relationships which are essential to the organisation’s continued success, to the quality of life of its employees and to the service it offers to its customers and other stakeholders.
Financial Expertise
Again, in all businesses and in many other organisations, there is an irreducible necessity for leaders and managers to understand the fundamental effects of finance. Modules in Corporate Financial Management and Accounting for Managers enable you to reflect upon and enhance your knowledge and expertise in the financial aspects of business, so that you will emerge with a clearer understanding of the financial bottom line, and of its effect on all aspects of Business and organisational strategy.
The International Market Interface
As you would expect, the content of this MBM is strongly weighted in favour of understanding all aspects of International Business. In the second semester especially, you will study modules in International Business Environment, Opportunities and Risks in International Business, International Markets and Marketing, Marketing Principles, Managing in the Global Economy, Competitive and Corporate Strategy and Internet Marketing and E-business, all taught by lecturers who work at the cutting edge of research into International Business. As a graduate of the Aberystwyth Master’s in International Business Management, you will have been given an excellent tour d’horizon of the current International Business scene and furnished with a suite of skills in research and analysis with which to understand the rapidly changing and continually evolving global economy in your future career. It is a combination which will maximise your potential to take advantage of emerging opportunities in the global market place.
