Theatre, Film and Television Studies
Established in 1973, the Department offers a variety of practical, design and academic courses relating to the study of Theatre, Performance, Television, Film, Media and Communication through the medium of both English and Welsh at postgraduate level.
The department has a wide range of excellent facilities at its disposal, including:
- 2 brand new, fully equipped studio theatres
- 4 rehearsal rooms
- 11 digital video editing suites, recording and viewing rooms
- 3 computerised lighting systems
- digital and analogue sound systems with digital effects processing and multi-track recording facilities
- trampoline grid and full theatre facilities
- costume and wardrobe facilities
- digital and video projection facilities
- computer-aided scenographic design facilities.
The Parry-Williams building also houses the BBC Mid Wales broadcast studios, and the Department has access to the Aberystwyth Arts Centre on the Penglais campus and to studios where student productions are often staged. There are also many other facilities located in and around the town.
