3.0  Visiting Panel

Academic Affairs Committee will establish a Visiting Panel from its members (to include the Dean of PG Studies where the department has significant postgraduate numbers) chaired by a PVC.  The external assessor(s) will be members of the Panel.

            The format of the Visit will typically be:

            One week before Visit

            Panel members to exchange by correspondence preliminary written reports on programme and related issues in advance
            of the visit to help inform the agenda.

             Visit Day 1 (Sample Programme – final details to be confirmed with Head of Department under review)

             9.00 am  Private meeting to recap earlier discussions (30 minutes)

             9.30 am  Meeting with Head of Department (45 minutes approx)

            10.15 am  Private Meeting (30 minutes)

            10.45 am  Meeting with DLT and UG Programme Leaders (75 minutes)

            12.00 noon Private Meeting

            12.15 pm  Meeting with PG Programme Leaders and PG Co-ordinator (30 minutes)

            12.45 pm  Lunch/Private meeting/Tour of Facilities?

              2.15 pm  Meeting with Students Group 1 (30 minutes)

              2.45 pm  Private Meeting (15 minutes)

              3.00 pm  Meeting with Students Group 2 (30 min)

              3.30 pm  Private Meeting (15 min)

              3.45 pm  Meeting with Students (Group 3) (30 min)

              4.15 pm  Private Meeting (30 min)

               4.45 pm  Progress Report to Head of Department and Director of Learning and Teaching, UG and PG Programme Leaders
                              and PG Co-ordinator (30 min)

             Visit Day 2

             9.15 am           Meeting with staff not already seen (60 mins)

             10.15 am         Private Meeting (60 minutes)

             11.15 am         Feedback to Head of Department and Director of Learning and Teaching

Where a department has distinctive Distance Learning provision, separate meetings may be held with relevant Undergraduate and/or Postgraduate students for which the Registry will meet students’ reasonable travel expenses.
