Good Research Practice
Aberystwyth University has a clear strategic objective to enhance its profile as a research led institution, and at the same time to build into this strategy the complementary measures that are needed to develop and enhance the standards and quality of its teaching. The strategy is based on a rolling programme of investment into the restructuring of departments to focus on the development of research through new appointments, concentrate resources into strong research groups and to renew teaching portfolios to create new and vibrant degree schemes to strengthen recruitment and to maximise the particular features of Aberystwyth which make it an ideal place in which be a student, and in which to work as a member of staff. It is within this context that the following guidelines are now being put in place. This document should serve the useful purpose of amalgamating together a number of diverse sources of information, and a range of procedures which already exist but which have not hitherto been consolidated into a single framework to address the overarching view of Safeguarding Good Research Practice.
