Good Research Practice
8.0 Use of Funds Granted by Research Councils
The financial arrangements in A.U. are stringent in the way that expenditure of research grants is recorded through the unique codes given to classes of expenditure items, and the way that these items can be tracked. Ultimately the expenditure of grant funds is the responsibility of the Principal Investigator on the grant concerned, and in the event of mismanagement or fraudulent use of funds he/she is answerable to the rules and regulations of the Institution (Staff Handbook and this document). In this case HODs do not have, or should not have, control over an individual's research grant (top-slicing is against policy).
