Responsibilities

Emyr manages the Grants Pillar within R.B.I. and is responsible for 7 staff. His main responsibilities are ensuring all externally funded projects are costed correctly and comply with funders’ regulations as well as claiming all the funds due. He manages the information systems within the pillar and produces data for senior management purposes. He is also responsible for the completion of the annual TrAC return to HEFCE.

Emyr is an official signatory of the University and works closely with the Contracts Pillar ensuring sound governance and risk control for engagements with third parties.

Biography

Emyr started his career at the College of Librarianship (DIS) where he became the Deputy Director of Finance. In 1987 he joined the County Treasurer’s Department of Dyfed County Council. In 1990 Emyr joined Aberystwyth University in the Finance department and helped establish the Research Finance Section. In 2011 the section transferred from Finance to the newly established Research Office which subsequently merged with the Commercial and Consultancy Services to form the Research, Business and Innovation Office. Emyr is a Director of Abertec, the University’s technology transfer company.
