Sue Pester is a part-time, European Development Officer, within the European Unit. Working closely with finance office staff, Sue is responsible for providing pre-award support to staff in applications for EU funding. She supplies information, advice and support relating to bidding for, specifically: Structural Funds (ESF, ERDF and INTERREG) and also helps support applications to Horizon 2020.
Prior to joining the Research, Business & Innovation, Sue worked as Project Development Officer for the National HE STEM Programme in Wales, based at Swansea University but working with all HEIs and other educational providers across Wales. Prior to that Sue worked at Aberystwyth University for about twenty years, firstly in the Department of Continuing Education and later as Head of Widening Access and Director of the West and Mid Wales Widening Access Partnership. Sue is also a qualified teacher and has taught in schools and universities on a variety of programmes from Access courses to Masters schemes. Sue has a PhD in Pagan Celtic Religion and her research interests and publications relate to the challenges of providing adult education to hard-to-reach groups in rural areas.
