Responsibilities

Provide research support to Faculty of Social Science departments by:

• Providing support for academic staff in the development, formulation and preparation of research grant proposals.
• Monitoring sources of funding, identify and proactively promoting new research opportunities.
• Work with other departments in Aberystwyth and other research organisations where there are collaborative consortia opportunities.

Biography

Jenny has a PhD in Rural Geography and a post graduate diploma in Public Health and Epidemiology.  Between 1998 and 2010 she was Research Manager at the Institute of Rural Health (IRH) in Gregynog. She led the research programme at IRH and successfully bid for and project managed over £500k research funding as PI from a wide range of funding bodies including the Wales Office of R&D for Health and Social Care, Welsh Assembly Government, Defra, Health and Safety Executive, the Big Lottery and Countryside Council for Wales. Between 2005 and 2010 Jenny was a member of the Powys Local Health Board Research and Development Committee and worked two days a week to provide research support to staff across Powys LHB.  Jenny has been in the Research Office since February 2010.
