Excellence Bursary Requirements

The following is a list of country-specific academic requirements for consideration for an Excellence Bursary for entry to the University in 2012:

 

General QualificationAcademic Requirement
A-levels 320 points from 3 full A-levels, to include any grades as specified in the applicants' offer
European Baccalaureate An overall score of 75% to include any scores in subjects as specified in the applicants' offer
International Baccalaureate A score of 27 points, to include any scores in subjects as specified in the applicants' offer

 

CountryAcademic Requirement
Austria Applicants achieving an overall grade of 2 (with grade 2 in any required subjects) in Reifeprüfungszeugnis/Maturazeugnis may be considered.
Belgium Certificate d'Enseignement Secondaire Superieur at grade 8.0 or above with minimum 8.0 in specified subjects.
Bulgaria Students achieving an overall grade of 5.5 in their Diploma za sredno obrazovanie, where no grade is less than 5, may be considered.
Czech Republic Maturitni Zkoušce / Maturita - Students achieving an overall grade of 2 in their Diploma of Secondary Education, where no grade is less than 2.5, may be considered. 
Denmark Students achieving an overall grade of 10 in the Studentereksamen, Hojere Forberedelseseksamen (HF), Hojere Handelseksamen (HHX) or Hojere Teknisk Eksamen (HTX) may be considered.
Estonia Students achieving a high level pass in their Gümnaasiumi lõputunnistus (High School Leaving Certificate) and a minimum of 80% in at least 3 Riigieksamid / Riigieksamitunnistus (State examinations) may be considered. 
Finland Students achieving an overall grading of eximia cum laude approbatur (E/6) in the Ylioppilastutkinoto / Studentexamen may be considered. 
France A score of 14 points of above in the French Baccalaureate. 
Germany Students achieving an overall grade of 2 in the Zeugnis der Allgemeinen Hochschulreife (Abitur) including 12 or better in three subjects may be considered.
Greece Students achieving an overall grade of 19 in the Apolytirion of Lykeio may be considered.
Hungary Erettsegi / Matura wutg - students achieving an overall grade of 4 in higher level maturity examinations (emelt szintü) or a grade of 5 in the standard level maturity examinations (középszintü) may be considered.
Ireland (Eire) Students achieving 350 UCAS tariff points or more from their best 5 Irish Leaving Certificate subjects at the Higher level will be considered. 
Italy Students achieving an overall grade of 85/100 in the Diploma di Esame di Stato may be considered. 
Latvia Students achieving an overall grade of 8 in the Atestās par Vispārējo vidējo izglītību, including three subjects at advanced level (profilkurss) may be considered. 
Lithuania Students achieving an overall grade of 8 in the Brandos Atestatas plus 2 state examinations with a minimum grade of 70% may be considered. 
Luxembourg Students achieving an overall grade of 47 in their Diplôme de Fin d’Etudes Secondaires or Diplôme de Fin d’Etudes Secondaires Techniques may be considered. 
Malta Students holding the Advanced Level Matriculation Certificate with at least 3 B grades at Intermediate Level, B in ‘Systems of Knowledge’ and 2 A-levels at Grade B may be considered. 
The Netherlands Diploma Voorbereidend Wetenschappelijk Onderwijs (VWO) – students achieving an overall grade of 8, where no subject is lower than 6 VWO or MBO may be considered. 
 Poland

The award of the Polish Matura, to include the best five results, as follows:

ENGLISH – at the required level:

 

For Science and Social Science courses:

 

 

  

For International Politics, History, English, Law, Theatre, Film & TV courses:

 

 

A minimum of 90% average in written and oral exams at the standard level, or

A minimum of 65% average in the written and oral exams at the extended level.

 

A minimum of 95% in both the written and oral exams at the standard level, or

A minimum of 70% average in written and oral exams at the extended level.

TWO SUBJECTS

With a score of at least 80% at the extended level.

TWO ADDITIONAL SUBJECTS, as follows:

Either two subjects scored at 85% or above at the standard level

Or two subjects scored at 70% or above at the extended level

Or one subject scored at 85% or above at the standard level and one subject scored at 70% or above at the extended level.

 NB:

  1. Where English is offered at both the standard level and extended level, it may only be counted once.
  2. For English and all foreign languages in Poland, it seems that the oral and written components are separate exams and therefore we will regard as separate subjects for our purposes.
  3. For Polish, the University will count the written paper score, or the average of both the written and oral examinations, whichever is highest.
  4. Any prerequisites in the applicant’s offer to study at the University (e.g. Biology @ 75% for Biological Science courses) must be achieved.
  5. A translated copy of the candidates’ results must be received by the Admissions Office, for verification purposes.
Portugal Certificado de fim de Estudos Secundários (previously Certidáo do Décimo Segundo Ano) with an overall mark of 18 - 20 (muito bom / excellent). 
Romania Students achieving an overall grade of 8 in their Diploma de Bacalaureat, where no grade is less than 7.0, may be considered. 
Scotland Students achieving 350 UCAS tariff points or more from their best 5 Scottish Higher subjects will be considered. 
Slovakia Students achieving an overall grade of 2 (with no grade less than 2.5) in the Vysvedčenie o Maturitnej Skúške / Maturita may be considered. 
Slovenia Students achieving an overall grade of 4 in the Maturitetno Spricevalo may be considered. 
Spain Students achieving an overall grade of 8/10 (fase general) or 11.3/14 (fase general + fase specifica) in Título de Bachillerato may be considered.
Sweden

Students achieving an overall grade of at least 16.5 in Fullständigt Slutbetyg från Gymnasieskolan Slutbetyg från Komvux may be considered.

OR

Overall grade of VG with MVG in at least 3 subjects.
