Conditions to be fulfilled by Sports Bursary holders:

  1. Bursary holders will be required to meet all the terms of their offer in full, and satisfy the University of their academic progress.

  2. Bursary holders will be expected to contribute to a University Sports Club and would normally be expected to represent the University in the sport for which the bursary was awarded.  In some circumstances this requirement may not be appropriate or possible and can be waived by agreement of the Chair of the Awarding Panel.  Bursary holders are asked to confirm their availability upon acceptance of the award.

  3. Holders of the bursary should agree to behave in a fashion befitting a representative of the University and attempt to maintain or improve their sporting performance.

  4. Bursary holders will satisfy the University of their academic progress.

  5. Bursary holders shall provide help in promoting the sporting profile of the University and will assist in other schemes which involve the promotion of the University e.g. Open Days, Visiting Days, Widening Participation activities, where appropriate. The student will be recompensed for hours worked at the standard student rate.

  6. The bursary holder will be expected to meet with the Sports Bursary Mentor each semester to review their progress and may also be required to keep a training diary to help with the review process.  The administration of the assessment and progression process will be undertaken by the Secretary of the Awarding Panel, and the review process will be administered by the Department of Sport and Exercise Science.

  7. Bursary holders will be expected to submit short written progress reports (on an appropriate template which will be provided) at the end of their first semester, and at the end of each year of study.  Bursary holders must also inform the Sports Bursary Mentor should any change in circumstances result in them being unable to continue to participate in their chosen sport during their time at the University.

  8. Unsatisfactory progress in any of these areas, without good cause, will result in termination of the award.
