I came to Aberystwyth on an Open Day, took one look and loved what I saw. The Department of Sport and Exercise Science is very friendly and easy going - it's like being part of a big family - and the sporting facilities, libraries and other resources are excellent. For me, my mind was made up about coming to Aber and the process of applying for a Sports Bursary was simple and straight forward. When I found out I'd been selected to receive a Sports Bursary, as well as an Excellence Bursary, it really gave me a confidence boost, and made starting at university a lot easier. What I like best about studing here is that it's chilled out and friendly, and the social life is very lively. To be able to come to a university like Aberystwyth and be encouraged to continue my sport as well as my studies is an amazing feeling. An added bonus is that you get to meet loads of great people who become your friends, as well as your team mates. It all helps to keep uni life that bit more varied.

Applying for a Sports Bursary was a simple process which involved completing an application form outlining my previous sporting experiences, and indicating what my sporting targets are for the coming years. The money I receive from the Sports Bursary is a big help in paying towards living costs and other resources needed to be a successful student. It was easy to settle in here - the tutors and hall staff made me feel at home. The course is very open, with plenty of opportunity to experiment in different areas - be that in front of or behind the camera, presenting, directing, producing, editing, or learning about sound and lighting. The academic facilities are excellent. There's so much going on around the campus - I've joined the Welsh Students Union and the Geltaidd. They arrange trips, sports teams and social evenings, which all make the process of meeting new people and establishing friendships so much easier.

I really liked the attitude of the people I met on a Visiting Day and so I decided to study at Aberystwyth. It was definitely the right decision for me and I found it very easy to settle in here. I received a Sports Bursary and a Merit Award, which will give me £2,500 extra money over the duration of my course. The department and the academic facilities here are really good. The lecturers are really friendly and knowledgeable, and the students are great. The sports facilities are really impressive and the astroturf is fantastic. I've joined lots of clubs and societies - there's so much choice here. I'm a member of the riding, hockey, sailing, skiing, climbing and fencing clubs! The social life here is amazing.
