How many ways could a Scholarship or Bursary make a difference to you while you're at Aberystwyth University?
Our current Scholarship and Bursary holders told us that there are four main benefits to getting a Bursary at Aberystwyth University:
- No Repayments! Unlike some universities who'll ask for their money back, we won't! All the money is yours to spend.
- No Exams! I bet you wish you could read that more often ... but it's true. With the exception of the Entrance Scholarship competition, you won't need to do any extra work.
- Simple Application! It couldn't be simpler - fill out a form and away you go. In fact, many of our Bursaries don't even require an application form!
- Have more than one! Potentially, you could receive SIX awards, all at once!

Receiving the Entrance Scholarship means that I will receive £1000 for every year of my study, and it was the award that made it possible for me to attend Aberystwyth University. Since the money will help me so much financially I was really delighted to receive it. It has relaxed my financial situation and I am planning to spend the money mainly on books and accommodation.
I would definitely recommend to others to apply for a Scholarship or Bursary. It is an easy way to gain some additional money and will help face the costs that you will face once you attend University. I think that employers will be impressed that I received a scholarship from my University and it is something to help my CV.
I was delighted and surprised a getting the scholarship. It was one of the best moments in my life since it enabled me to attend Aberystwyth University and to study International Politics.

I received an Open Scholarship of £1,000 yearly for the length of my studies, after sitting an exam. It really made a difference to me, as it covered my living costs which meant I didn’t have to get a part-time job. I could really concentrate on my studies.
I would certainly recommend that others apply for the award. The bonus of an unconditional offer and ‘priority’ accommodation relieved the stress leading up to exams. Also it meant that I had a better chance of getting into the accommodation that I wanted.

The money from my Merit Award will go towards buying textbooks and general living costs. My family and I were very pleased with the award because of the unconditional offer that comes with it. It takes the pressure off A-level exams, allowing you to concentrate on A-levels without worrying about the effect it will have on coming to the University, and so I would defiantly recommend prospective students to sit the exams.

I received an Excellence Bursary and a Residential Bursary which together were worth £2,500. Having the Excellence Bursary felt like being rewarded for my hard work with was great. It has been really beneficial in allowing me to buy books, and to do some additional socialising. The Residential Bursary allowed me to afford catered accommodation which wouldn’t otherwise have been an option for me. The awards have made a great difference to me during my time here.
