SMB Marketing with Management graduate lands a role with Global Platinum

Matthew Evans, who graduates from SMB in Marketing with Management has been accepted onto the Management Development programme at Global Platinum UK, a top marketing agency.  Matthew has always been an enthusiastic and very hard working student as well as a very able one.  We are sure that these abilities will stand him in very good stead in his career and it is to his credit that he has this very good start.  We all wish him very well for the future.

 

 

Sophie Spiteri - Wales regional Marketing Officer, Mencap

Marketing Graduate Sophie Spiteri has secured the post of regional marketing officer for Wales for Mencap - a fantastic first step on her career ladder.  Sophie explains below: After making it through to being one of the final two candidates for interviews at Mencap's head office, I have been offered the post of regional Marketing Officier for Wales. I will be starting in June as soon as I have graduated. I really just want to thank everyone at the SMB for all the hard work and support that has gone into making the degree scheme such a success.

Steffi Fishwick - Click Consult, Liverpool

I’m working for a company called Click Consult and my role is an SEO Sales Strategist. I’ve been here about 3 months and already picked up so much and still learning which is great.
The company as a whole works out the way in which Google thinks to rank companies higher on the search engine.
My role is to form strategies so that the programmers and web development team can put into place on and offline. I research the company and find out exactly what they do, I then perform keyword research looking for keywords that I think are most often entered when people are searching for the products the company sells - I then form strategies according to this and according to the layout of the site. I communicate between the different teams in the company making sure company websites are as user friendly as possible and attractive from a marketing perspective.
I’ve learnt lots of tricks of the trade for example ‘link building’ is crucial to rank higher on Google and having the minor things such as active social network accounts all matter etc.
I’ve had a lot of input when it comes to bringing new clients on board, I will look at the tender documents and relay back sales how we would form the SEO Strategy to help bring the client on board. Our newest big client to come on board is JJB Sports last week which was a great achievement.
To sum up if Aberystwyth University was to come on board as a client, our company would focus on getting them page 1 position 1 on Google when an individual would type in keywords such as: Business Degrees, Marketing Degrees, Welsh Universities, Universities in UK etc etc.
My degree comes in extremely useful and worked as a great foundation when starting the job, I wouldn’t have got the job without it or be able to apply the knowledge and skills I have learnt to the role I am in today.

Suzanne Perkins - Senior Marketing Executive at LC, Swansea

Suzanne Perkins (nee Clement) gets job as Senior Marketing Executive of the LC in Swansea after graduating in Marketing at Aberystwyth University School of Management and Business
As well as getting married after graduation (congratulations Suzy!), Suzanne was recruited as Senior Marketing Executive of the LC in Swansea – formerly Swansea leisure centre. The role covers all aspects of marketing for the organization with direct responsibility for marketing strategy, planning and delivery of innovative campaigns along with budgets.  This includes working with all stakeholders and development of the database.  Event organization is also part of Suzanne’s remit. This is a superb first step on the marketing career ladder for Suzanne as it is challenging and covers all aspects of marketing within a highly competitive arena.  Well done Suzy!
