Biography
Kobil Ruziev obtained his first degree from the Tashkent Institute of Finance in Uzbekistan, where he studied Economics with Banking. He studied at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN in the USA for his MA in Economics. He obtained his PhD in Economics from Stirling University, Scotland. Prior to joining Aberystwyth University, Kobil worked as a part-time teaching assistant at Stirling and at the Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh. He also worked for the National Bank of Uzbekistan.
His current lecturing commitments cover Intermediate Macroeconomics, Advanced Macroeconomics, European and International Monetary Systems, Emerging Financial Markets, Introduction to Econometrics, and Empirical Methods in Finance. He coordinates postgraduate programmes (MSc) in Accounting and Finance, and International Finance.
He has research interests in the areas of transformation of the economies of the former Soviet Union, money and banking in emerging economies, post-Keynesian and institutional economics.
