Biography
Dr Nazrul Islam received his D.Eng. degree in the area of Innovation Management and M.Eng. in Chemical Engineering. His first M.Sc. and B.Sc. Honours degrees were from University of Dhaka (secured First position in First Class in both courses). Dr Islam previously taught at Cardiff University, Tokyo Institute of Technology and the University of Dhaka. He is also currently a Visiting Lecturer (part-time) at Middlesex University Business School, London.
His areas of research interest include the management of emerging and disruptive technology innovation, technology forecasting and roadmapping, systems of innovation focusing nano- and bio-technology, assessment of technology maturity, and technology transfer. His research was funded by Japanese Ministry of Education, the UK Research Council (EPSRC), and Aberystwyth University Research Grant. He serves as a peer-reviewer to EPSRC and many international journals.
He has authored over 30 scholarly research papers including several books on the topic and his works have been published in Technovation, Technological Forecasting and Social Change, and Science and Public Policy. Dr Islam’s publications have received academic awards including the ‘Pratt & Whitney Canada: Best Paper Award’ in Innovation Management. In recognition of his academic excellence, he has won the ‘Channel S Award 2010’ from London in the category of Achievement in Education, Research and Teaching in the UK.
He is a member of several prestigious societies worldwide including International Association of Management of Technology (IAMOT), USA; International Society for Professional Innovation Management (ISPIM), UK; Institute of Nanotechnology (IoN), UK; and American Nano Society. He has earned inclusion in the "Who's Who in the World" 26th Edition 2009, NJ, USA; and his biography is included in the 'Dictionary of International Biography', 35th Edition, Cambridge, UK.
