Biography

Anne Howells is Project Co-ordinator for the Sustainable Learning Networks Ireland Wales, SLNIW project.

SLNIW is an INTERREGA-funded project being undertaken by the Aberystwyth School of Management and Business, in partnership with CEDRE (Centre for Enterprise Development and Regional Economy), School of Business , Waterford Institute of Technology.

The primary goal of the project is to increase the competitiveness and innovative capacities and capabilities of SMEs and micro-enterprises in West Wales and South East Ireland.  This goal will be achieved through creating and developing self-sustaining  learning networks in these areas.

The SLNIW project aims to develop six learning networks consisting of 15 to 20 entrepreneurs each who can exchange experiences and share knowledge with other network members.  Bringing together progressive like-minded companies, the SLNIW project is about learning new perspectives and utilizing the skills of up to 20 Senior Executives (network members) and delivering cost effective benefits to SME and Micro-enterprises owner/managers and their businesses.

Anne has a scientific background, with a joint honours BSc in Chemistry and Biochemistry and a PhD in Chemistry.  She has ten years experience as a Research and Development Manager with an innovative chemical consumables manufacturing company based in South Wales.

Since coming back to West Wales, Anne has also worked as a manager in the public sector and is looking forward to bringing her varied experience to the project.
