Business Finance Single Honours

In choosing to study your Business Finance Degree at Aberystwyth University you will be combining the best of two disciplines: understanding why and how business happens whilst developing a deeper understanding the business finance aspects of the commercial world.  With a huge choice of modules from the School of Management and Business this degree will give you the depth of understanding and the breadth of awareness that the very best companies look for.

Year One  

The first year of study provides you with a thorough introduction to Business Finance.  Specialist modules in Financial Management and Financial Accounting give you a grounding in the application of financial control for business.  Further modules in the core programme cover Mathematics, and Quantitative Methods for Finance, Accounting and Business.  You will also begin to study of the broader business context in modules which give you an introduction to Marketing, Management, Economics and the Business Environment respectively – a brilliant introduction to the main facets you need to know to succeed in a business or financial career.

Years Two and Three

Years two and three build on the foundation of your first year with progressively more sophisticated study of Investments, Financial Markets, Firms Markets and Prices, Corporate Finance, Taxation, European and International Monetary Systems; so that you will emerge with that firm grasp of the relationship between Business and the economic cycle which every employer expects a Business Finance Graduate to have.  In these you may also broaden your interests in the business field by choosing from a range of modules covering, for example, Management, Human Resources, and Marketing Communications - amongst many others.

Upon Completion

When you graduate with a Business Finance Degree there are many opportunities waiting for you.  With partial exemption from the Chartered examinations for Accountancy and Finance your degree is recognised by the professional bodies.  Employers actively seek graduates with a Business Finance qualification and this demand is shown by the high number of Business Finance graduates who are employed quickly upon completion.  From your first professional job onwards, your degree will provide you with the foundation to build a rewarding and rewarded career.
