Employability and Business Engagement

Career Prospects

A sport and exercise science degree or postgraduate research training opens up a wide range of prospects. There are opportunities in commercial health organisations, in elite sport, in exercise promotion and. following a PGCE, in teaching. The strong development of a scientific and analytical mind along with team-working skills means that graduates are also well placed to enter other careers in management, or sales and marketing, for example.

Careers development is integrated into both undergraduate and postgraduate courses. All students complete compulsory modules of work experience, skill development, and a structured CPD programme. The department is part of the 'Academic Champions of Enterprise' scheme a Welsh Government funded initiative, and is run in partnership with Bangor and Swansea Universities.

Examples of where our alumni have have progressed to 6 months after completing their degree can be seen here.

Business Partnerships and Placement Opportunities

The department has fostered links with a number of local and national businesses and organisations, resulting in mutually beneficial outcomes, including research projects, access to facilities and a number of work placement opportunities for our undergraduate students. Examples of successful collaborations include research projects with Hywel Dda and Betsi Cadwaladr Health Boards, KESS studentships, and student placement opportunities with the NHS.

We welcome enquiries from private companies, public corporations and institutions, social enterprises or not-for-profit organisations, and individuals that wish to explore the possiblility of working with us.
