Walks on Campus

Campus Walks

A group walking in the woods

Situated on the main Penglais campus, there are three walks for you to enjoy and if you wish, to have a look at some of the rare trees that are planted here.  The walks all start and finish at the Sports Centre and are approximately 20, 30 or 40 minutes long - although you should be able to follow the posts around from any point.  You will be able to download a map by clicking on this link -  Campus walks map

There is also an accompanying leaflet about the trees (Tree Leaflet).  You will notice on the main map, that the trees of interest are highlighted in red. You can then search for the small green tag that is hanging from the tree and find its corresponding number in the tree leaflet - a short description, including country of origin will give you some more information about the trees. Planted optionally when the new campus was designed, the then Head Groundsman, worked with academics from Zoology to ensure that trees from every corner of the world were brought on campus - you will be surprised at what you will find!

We have tried to keep to the pathways as much as possible but in order to see some of the trees some paths are on grass and uneven surfaces which may become muddy, so take care with your footwear.

On the map, you will also notice some refreshment points where you ail be able to take on bard refreshments or have a comfort break.

Walking is beneficial for both your physical and mental health, so take the time to enjoy what is on your doorstep!
