Jon is presently leading an initiative to provide leading sports science support services to a wider audience through a new collaboration between the Sports Centre and the Department of Sport and Exercise Science.
Biography
Jon has a first class degree in sport and exercise science, and a PhD in exercise physiology, both from Aberystwyth University. His research has focused on the physiological determinants of endurance performance; and in particular the dynamic control of muscular energetics during exercise and how these processes influence high-intensity exercise tolerance. Using this knowledge and his personal experiences of high performance cycling, he currently provides a range of sports science support services to both amateur and professional endurance athletes. Some of which have gone on to win national and European championships, and others have been selected to compete at the youth Olympic games and the World Championships.
Jon is presently leading an initiative to provide leading sports science support services to a wider audience through a brand new collaboration between the Sports Centre and the Department of Sport and Exercise Science. We aim to provide a bespoke solution to suit the specific needs of the individual. But as an example, we can offer x-ray based body composition analysis to accurately determine your fat and lean mass as well as indicate the health of your skeleton, or range of maximal and submaximal fitness tests to identify key physiological measures such as your ‘critical running velocity’ and ‘VO2max’, or to identify your personal training zones so that you can get the most out of your training.
These services are not designed just for the elite, if you are serious about enhancing your general health and wellbeing or attaining your personal fitness goals, we can help!
Speak to the staff at the Sports Centre or your personal trainer for more information.
