  • If you get into difficulties with money it's important to talk to someone about it. Don't ignore the problem as it will only get worse - we have staff who can give advice.
  • If you find you cannot pay your tuition or University accommodation fees speak to the Students Fees section at the University as soon as possible as it may be possible to negotiate a repayment plan.

  • If you cannot pay your rent contact your landlord to see whether you can negotiate a part payment or whether you can pay at a later date. Sometimes Loan/Grant payment dates are out of step with when rent is due.
  • If you exceed your agreed overdraft limit speak to your bank as soon as possible.
  • Always pay your priority debts first and think carefully before using a  credit card to meet costs that you think cannot be met by any other means.
  • If the situation is really bad you will need to negotiate with your creditors a repayment proposal. This needs to be based on a realistic estimate of what you can afford and not what the creditors want.
