Music
Music in Aberystwyth is everywhere, whether it's buying, playing or listening; you'll find the scene you want, regardless of the music you love.
Live Music
From R'n'B nights in the Students' Union, to dance nights in the Arts Centre, from live bands in many of the town pubs, to samba bands playing on the sea front, and from choirs to orchestras.
As well as big name musicians such as Duffy, Jools Holland, Girls Aloud, The Zutons, Pendulum, Westwood and Goldie; loads of local artists play throughout Aberystwyth. These gigs are usually cheap, offer you a diverse range of music and if you're lucky go on all night.
Making Music
Like everything you'll experience at Aberystwyth University you'll always be encouraged to get involved; this is also true with music, no matter your ability or level you'll always have the opportunity to have a go yourself. The University Music Centre offers all kinds of musical opportunities for playing, singing and listening. There's plenty going on - so don't miss out!
Whether you're looking to form a band, use our top of the range recording and mixing facilities or just want to learn an instrument, Aberystwyth has the infrastructure in place to help you get what you want out of your music.
You may be an aspiring DJ? If so, you'll have plenty of opportunities to get involved in dance nights, the University's Bay Radio and local pubs and clubs.
Buying Music
Although buying music online will be the most popular choice, there is no better feeling then going to a shop to buy music over a counter. At Abersytwyth we have plenty of places where you can buy both mainstream music and your more genre-specific artists, whether you want it on CD or vinyl you'll always be able to get your music fix.
There’s a really good music scene, if you can find it, “they” keep themselves to themselves, but you get some good gigs in the back room at The Union or The Angel...
