Eating

At University you have the choice to live in a catered or self-catered hall of residence. Even if you choose self catered it's likely that you will still want to eat out when you just can't be bothered to cook so what are your options if you want to head out and let someone else worry about the washing up. So let's break it down for you:

Coffee BreaksA cup of coffee

Becoming a student at Aberystwyth means you can expand your coffee culture. Finding the perfect coffee house for you and your mates will be a rite of passage! Aberystwyth has tons of cafes and coffee shops ranging from Costa Coffee to the very small, quiet and quaint coffee houses we've decided to give you a few to check out:

  • The Treehouse offers a wide range of delicious organic, vegan and vegetarian food and coffee which will satisfy any customer. Warm plum tea is a must try.
  • The Penguin: Legendary cakes at great prices.
  • The Upper limit: Popular for those student mornings, when you are feeling a little worse for wear.
  • Blue Creek Café Tasty coffees and a place to practise any Welsh that you have picked up!

Places for parents

It's important to find that parent safe place to take your folks, especially if cooking for them may not be at the top of you to-do list (and you fancy a treat)! If you're looking for fantastic food at prices that won't destroy your budget then you're in luck. Aberystwyth has loads of restaurants that are guaranteed to be a parent safe choice. Which means A wrap packed full of foodall you have to worry about is what you want to order: Greek, Mediterranean, Italian, Spanish, Japanese, Thai, Indian, British or Chinese.
Good luck...

Sometimes you simply can't beat a takeaway (especially after a hard night). Cheap and cheerful! There is a huge choice in Aberystwyth.

Deciding what you fancy is tough. Aberystwyth has the fast food world's favourite brands: McDonalds, KFC and Subway as well as your usual concoction of Chinese, sushi, fish and chips, pizza places; all of which are ideal for that washing up free evening meal or that after party munchy top up :)

The Arts Centre is great to have right on campus and their cafe also does a ‘lush’ hot chocolate.
